The Activities Abroad staff who made our booking were always friendly and knowledgeable whenever we phoned up to ask any questions, and it really does make a difference that some of them have visited the same area (or similar) for a holiday and can talk about their own personal experiences. One woman we spoke to advised us to take goggles for the husky safari - thank you for that, they are a definite must have if it is snowing! In Finland, the staff in the Kiela restaurant and reception were excellent. They were friendly and welcoming, and happy to talk about the local area and advise us on the best Schnapps to try! They also have a very good chef who made us some lovely traditional Finnish dishes using local produce. We would particularly like to thank and commend our "Overnight Husky Safari" guide - Saija - at the Reindeer Park in Salla. She was fantastic - very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, supportive and friendly. Our husky safari was the highlight of the holiday, and we loved every minute. Gliding along with just the sound of the dogs and the sled in that beautiful snowy wilderness is an incredible experience. Saija gave very clear instructions as to how to drive the sled and look after the dogs so we felt very confident with her. She also cooked us some lovely meals over the camp fire! We'd really like the company to pass on our heartfelt thanks to her. We will definitely return to do the husky safari again! Your comments? We had a wonderful week and would definitely like to return in the future. It was very helpful that things such as boots and thermal overalls were provided as they are expensive to buy and very bulky to pack for a flight. All the activities were well organised and all the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely every activity we did was brand new to us so at times it was challenging but we had a great time and would definitely recommend it to others.
