Our tailor-made programmes allow you to design your own holiday. Simply decide when you want to travel and for how long then match your stay to the activities available below.

Tailor made holidays at Jeris are based on a minimum stay of three nights in en-suite hotel rooms.

Please note that Finnair have recently withdrawn tour operators' fares which means that we have far less flexibility over durations than in the past. It also means that a seven night stay based around direct charter flights from the UK to Kittila represents far greater value than using Finnair's services via Helsinki for shorter durations. If you do wish to use Finnair's services, we will require the full flight cost as a deposit at the time of booking as we are now required to pay the airline immediately.

Jeris Hotel and Winter Cottages enjoy an enviable setting overlooking beautiful Lake Jerisjarvi in North West Lapland.

The proximity to the Pallas-Ounas National Park makes it the ideal choice for an active winter holiday in a genuinely unspoilt environment. We get consistently excellent feedback from clients who travel to Jeris - the location is just spectacular and the staff are fantastic. You can choose between delightful winter cottages and en suite hotel rooms.

With an excellent restaurant, a lakeside spa and a fantastic activity programme make this the perfect place to mix comfort with fun-filled and adventurous winter sports.

Suitable for

Singles, couples, families and small groups.

Jeris Hotel

Jeris Hotel - Jeris, Finland, Lapland

If you are looking to get away from it all then look no further!! Jeris enjoys an enviable position on the shore of Lake Jerisjarvi and some 20km from the nearest village. Despite this isolated location, it has all the modern day facilities including a spa and a very good restaurant. Where better to retreat to after an active day in the snowy wilds that surround the hotel and winter cottages?

There’s an added bonus to this remote location. Being far from any light pollution also makes Jeris an excellent destination from which to see the Northern Lights which dance and shimmer across the vast Arctic skies.
Jeris consists of a central hotel building and a selection of 32 winter cottages nestled in the snowy woods that surround the main building.

The main hotel building at Jeris consists of 26 comfortable hotel bedrooms. The rooms are all en suite and have a shower, hair dryer, drying cupboard, television and telephone.

Meals are served in the hotel restaurant which offers a half board buffet of traditional Finnish dishes as well as international cuisine. There is always a good selection of salads followed by a choice of main course and a set dessert. The buffet breakfast offers a wide selection of options to get you fuelled up for the day’s winter adventure.

There is a small lounge area where guests can use the free WiFi connection. A PC is also available at reception for guests to use free of charge.

A small souvenir shop stocks a selection of mementos should you need some retail therapy.
Jeris boasts a delightful wellbeing area which is situated on the lake shore just a short walk from the hotel. There are two small spa pools with spectacular views across the frozen lake along with two saunas and a traditional smoke sauna (heated twice a week). If you are feeling rather brave then you can take advantage of the illuminated ice pool.

Guests taking part in our Winter Cottage Week or designing their own holiday at Hotel Jeris have access to the spa facilities throughout their stay. Those taking part in our special Christmas and New Year itineraries have one visit to the facilities included in their stay. If you are tailor making your holiday and staying in cabins then access to the wellbeing area is not included so please see the price box for details.

Lainio Snow Village (optional night)

Lainio Snow Village is built and run by our good friend Rami Kurtakko and is approximately 200km North of the Arctic Circle. In Snow Village, you can spend a night in the SnowHotel, have a dinner in the IceBar or enjoy the igloo disco with drinks served in ice glasses. Or you can just marvel at the magnificent sculpture art all around the area.

Snow Village is located in Western part of Finnish Lapland, in close proximity of Ylläs and Levi ski-resorts and easily reachable from the international airport of Kittilä.

An overnight in one of the cold bedrooms or suites is an unforgettable experience.

Getting there

Manchester departures may be available subject to a supplement. Please give us a call on 01670 789 991 to discuss these options.

Tourism in Finnish Lapland has become the main income source of employment and income replacing traditional industries such as forestry. Development from a period of extractive industry to an industrial society has come about quickly. In 1950 the largest part of Lapland's inhabitants lived in rural areas and more than half the workforce worked in forestry and agriculture. Today 65 % of the workforce is in the service industry, 22 % in processing and 10 % in primary production.

This huge growth in tourism and service provision has been developed in conjunction with a long-term sustainable tourism plan with one of the primary objectives being to maintain nature in its natural state while guaranteeing the traditional way of life. Much of this has been achieved along with membership of EU development programmes, aimed at diversifying sources of livelihood, effective usage of resources and to increase export.

Approximately a quarter of Lapland’s 100 000 strong workforce was unemployed in 1997. Promoting entrepreneurship, ongoing re-education of the workforce and development of the educational system to suit the needs of enterprises is continuing. The target is to diversify the sources of livelihood, increase the value of refinement production and develop new enterprises particularly in the area of tourism. National measures as well as EU-programme measures support this objective.

We embrace this philosophy, employing local activity providers and using only locally owned hotels. In this manner we help to maintain jobs in an area where unemployment was, until recently, very high. Additionally, the use of local suppliers ensures that the tourism spend filters through to local economies via the tourism multiplier effect.

Stephanie Eddy - Activities Abroad
Our Opinion

"This is what a winter holiday is all about, spending the day in the wilds of Lapland before returning to a winter cottage, throwing a few logs on the fire and relaxing in a steaming hot sauna before dinner. What I like about these cottages is that they are set in the woods a short walk from the main building, so although it may sound corny, you can actually hear the silence. On one occasion, I returned to my cabin for a nap before my evening meal only to wake up 12 hours later in time for breakfast. Tranquil is the operative word". Stephanie Eddy

Our Customers' Feedback

"Wow, what an amazing trip!!!!! Thank you so much to Ali and Lindsey at Activities Abroad for all the advice, this was the perfect trip for our honeymoon. Yes, it is expensive - but it was worth every penny and I just wish we could afford to go every year. Stayed in the Jeris Log Cabins. Hotel location was amazing - better than we could have imagined. Highlight was the snowmobiling and the huskys, but everything else was also fantastic (cross country skiing, snowshowing, ice fishing). Personally we didn't think much of the snow village and I am glad we didn't spend the extra money to sleep there! To round off our trip, we saw the northern lights on our last night...perfect ending to a fantastic trip." Emma Groves - Mar 11
