we know.....
We only launched this destination last year and places filled up extremely quickly. We believe this is because of two factors; the first is testament to the host here, Simon Evans, who ran a highly successful week in the French Pyrenees for several years before making the move to Morzine, and many of his previous guests decided to follow him. Couple this with the popularity of Morzine and its fantastic alpine setting including its proximity to some world class mountain bike trails along with its lively range of bars and restaurants and you have a winning combination.
The multi-pass card makes sure that your family has plenty to keep them busy when not taking part in the activities, and the hotel’s location in the centre of town allows families the freedom to be able to explore on their own or with their new friends.
we know.....
"We enjoyed mixing with like-minded other families and enjoying the social side of shared experience. Rafting was well enjoyed, as was the mountain biking due to the fantastic locations and more so the fantastic guides who really make sure that you are "enjoying", not just "experiencing”. Peter Nadin - August 2011
Suitable for
Families with children aged 11 years and older (this does not preclude families with children younger than 11 but they may not be able to take part in all activities).
saturday - arrival and welcome
You will be able to check into your room from 3pm and this evening your host Simon will meet you for a welcome meal and to discuss the week’s programme.
sunday - alpine exploration hike
On Sunday morning you will head up into the Alpine meadows for a guided walk. This is an excellent introduction to the area and the route offers stunning views of the local landscape. It is also a fantastic chance to get to know the other members of the group and after your walk lunch will be served.
monday - mountain biking
By now you will have seen the mountain bikers coming down near your hotel after their day’s adventures and this morning it’s your turn. You will be provided with all equipment before heading out on a 14km cross country route which is suitable for all abilities. The trails in and around Morzine have been described as some of the best in Europe and many people visit Morzine with the sole purpose of mountain biking on these fantastic routes.
tuesday - am: rafting and pm: hydrospeeding
You will spend today getting very wet on The Dranse River. It runs at grade 3+ and grade 4 in places, ensuring plenty of fun and adrenaline today! This morning you will raft downstream with the guidance of your expert instructor. This afternoon the group will get the chance to get even closer to the river whilst hydrospeeding. This activity was reportedly invented by some activity guides in this area and is still extremely popular today.
wednesday - free day
Today we have left free for your family to decide how active or relaxed you want it to be. Make use of your multi-pass card to enjoy Morzine’s outdoor tennis courts or take the cable car up the mountain and enjoy a walk in the perfect alpine scenery.
thursday - adventure park
This high ropes course is a wonderful challenge for the whole family. Set high up in the trees you will negotiate this elevated obstacle course right through the forest, on a series of tricky sections designed to get your pulse racing! At the end there is a zip wire adventure with two huge lines stretching over the gorge and waterfall, giving you an incredible great bird’s eye view of what to expect during your canyoning adventure tomorrow.
friday - canyoning
We have saved the best until last this week and this canyon really starts with a bang - a 40m rope controlled descent from a footbridge down to the canyon floor. From here Simon will lead you in a series of abseils, slides, jumps and scrambles through this canyon adventure.
This evening the group will all meet up for the farewell meal and reflect on the week’s adventures.
saturday - depart or extend your stay
Today you will return home or we can also arrange for you to extend your stay in Morzine. Please contact us for a quotation on 01670 785 072.
An alternative route home via Switzerland, Germany and France.
Morzine to Interlaken: 3 hours
You can drive to the shores of Lake Geneva and follow the Lake shoreline east before heading inland towards Interlaken.
http://www.interlaken.ch/erlebnisse/sommer.html?L=3
Interlaken is a beautiful location and also an activity centre for winter and summer sports. You could look at spending a couple of days here.
Interlaken to Lucerne/Lindau
From Interlaken I would travel North East towards Lucerne, which is a lovely city and well worth a visit.
http://www.luzern.com/en/welcome.cfm
This would be a great place to spend a couple of hours / lunch en route to Lindau on Lake Constance / Bodensee which is a further two hours North East and just across the border in Southern Germany.

Again you could consider spending a couple of nights here.
Lindau to the Black Forest
If you follow the Northern Shoreline of Lake Constance you head towards the Black Forest region or Schwarzwald as it is known locally. On the way you could stop at Schaffhausen which is the source of the Rhine and has the largest waterfall in mainland Europe. This means crossing just back into Switzerland before heading back into Germany.

The Black Forest has a multitude of locations suitable for a stopover and you can view options below.

This family holiday is based in the town of Morzine. The town is mostly known as a winter ski resort however Morzine offers a fantastic array of activities in the summer too.
Ski resort towns are destinations where the seasonality of their product hits the economy and local area hardest. This is especially the case when, as in Morzine, the resort has grown from a pre existing Savoyarde town. Morzine still retains its Savoyarde character and we encourage all guests throughout the week to try and speak some French and experience the local culture.
Morzine tackles the seasonality of the product exceptionally well. This is one of the few resorts you can visit in summer and find a similar buzz to that which you find in winter. People live here and work here all year round so the town retains a soul throughout the year. It is something that the town has been exceptionally conscious off and something which we are happy to support it in.
Morzine utilises the lift systems year round and operates a very successful system of mountain bike trails. The trails are all very well marked and bikers are unable to travel away from the designated areas. This minimises the damage to the environment whilst providing opportunities for employment throughout the year and gaining the maximum benefit from their existing infrastructure.
We always ensure that we work with local suppliers and accommodation wherever possible. In Morzine we work with local guides whose passion for the area is infectious and a family run hotel. This means that our clients get to meet the local people and gain fantastic experiences from them. For example we visit a Savoyarde Chalet for a lunch which most people would not find independently. The remote chalet benefits from our groups and our groups benefit from the experience.
Our hotel accommodation is not part of a large ski based chain but a smaller family run hotel that has been successfully operated by the family in Morzine for decades. They employ local people wherever possible and unlike many hotels remain fully open throughout the summer season ensuring stable employment opportunities. The hotel restaurant serves a mix of local and international cuisine and helps to keep the Savoyarde traditions alive.
The Alps are obviously a stunning natural environment and we work closely with our local providers to ensure that the balance between the tourism and the natural environment is managed.
We operate a strict ‘leave no trace’ policy on all of our activities.
