we know....
Dahab on the shores of the Red Sea is the ideal location for a family activity holiday. The town offers a more relaxed pace and has escaped the mass tourism development of some of its neighbours. There’s a fantastic atmosphere and some fabulous water based activities as well as some great family accommodation.
This holiday encompasses some of the most well known sights in the region whilst allowing you to explore them in an active way. You will explore on foot, by boat, by jeep, in the water and by camel. You will also encounter the Bedouin people and learn something about their lives here in this stunning part of Egypt.
We also offer a range of extension programmes so that the whole family can enjoy the spectacular sight of the Pyramids, the Nile, Luxor and Aswan.

"Fantastic wildlife and scenery - we saw so many animals and birds. We soon learnt to take our camera everywhere as you never know what you may see on the way to the restaurant....Activity guides very good; maintaining safety while making them fun. Very knowledgeable guides and a great variety of accommodation." Judy Lloyd - July 2010
Suitable for
Families with children aged 8 years and older (this does not preclude families with children younger than 8 but they may not be able to take part in all activities).
saturday - flights, arrival and introduction
You will be greeted at Sharm el Sheikh Airport and transferred directly to Dahab. The transfer takes approximately one hour twenty minutes. After arriving at the hotel and unpacking, a welcome meal will be served with your guide and the rest of the group.
sunday - lazy boat day
One of the main attractions of this beautiful area is its fantastic coastline and we think this is the perfect introduction to your relaxing holiday and your delightful new surroundings. During this boat day there will be plenty of opportunities for snorkelling along the shoreline and sunbathing on the deck.
monday - windsurfing lesson
This morning you will be given the necessary safety briefing and guide’s instruction before you can try out the basics of this exciting sport. Dahab is world- renowned for its windsurfing and reliable winds combine with superb flat water conditions inside Dahab’s sand spit. Further away from shore wavy conditions and strong winds provide fantastic conditions for more experienced windsurfers.
tuesday - coloured canyon exploration
Today you will head to the world famous Coloured Canyon to explore this spectacular landmark. Formed by the elements over millions of years the Canyon is an impressive, natural phenomenon that stretches for over a kilometre and looks like a film set. The steep walls are streaked with yellow, red, purple and gold.
wednesday - free day
Today is free for you to arrange additional activities or to relax around the hotel swimming pool. Our team here will be happy to help you organise any activities. Last year many of our families booked more windsurfing lessons to improve their skills.
thursday - snorkelling at the blue hole
This is one of the most famous diving sites in the world but we think it is just as wonderful for snorkelling with just as much to see near the surface as deep in the depths. The blue hole is an amazing natural attraction and the memory of snorkelling above the beautiful reefs is one that will stay with you forever.
friday - desert safari
Today you head away from the coast and into the vast Sinai desert. Your journey starts on an exciting jeep safari to meet some of the local Bedouin guides who will accompany you on a short camel ride through this eerie, moonlike landscape. This evening after returning to your hotel a delicious farewell meal will be served for the group and your guide.
saturday - depart or extend your stay

Getting there
This holiday includes return flights from London to Sharm el Sheikh (regional and flexible departures on request).
As part of our responsible travel policy we have kept away from the large resort of Sharm el Sheikh for our Egyptian adventure and instead focus on the smaller town of Dahab to the South.
Dahab is a town which has developed slowly and is globally known for watersports, it has escaped the large mass tourism of nearby resorts and this maintained a great deal of its Bedouin culture. We are very happy to be able to utilise locally owned accommodation in Dahab and local guides. This means that the economic benefit of tourism remains in the region rather than being leaked overseas by multi- national companies. The hotels also provide a vital source of employment in the region and stops many young people from being forced to leave in search of a job enabling the heritage and traditions of the area to continue.
The area has a strictly managed policy on access to sites such as the Coloured Canyon which protects the local people’s role in operating the sites. For example each group must be accompanied by a local guide (even if they have their own tour guide). This safeguards the employment of the local people and allows them to impart their expertise. There are also restrictions on the number of people who are able to enter the historical or natural areas to ensure that they are sustained and protected for future generations.
The Bedouin culture is a key element in this holiday and we devote a day to the culture and the way of life of these nomadic people. It is important to us that our clients get away from tourist centres and meet with the local people in order to fully appreciate their destination.
We always encourage our clients to learn a few words of the local language and provide them with guidance on purchasing responsibly sourced and locally produced gifts and souvenirs throughout their stay.
We have a strict leave no trace policy on all activities and transfers are always made in group vehicles wherever possible to minimise transportation.
