Our holiday here in the beautiful Oetz Valley operates slightly differently to other holidays. When you book this trip, you are allocated a number of activity points and you can choose which activities you wish to take part in during the welcome meeting on your first night at the resort. There is a fantastic range available and your points will allow you to get a taste of several activities or to take part in your favourites for a longer period of time.
This is a beautiful part of the world and we have recommended self drive because we feel it gives you optimal flexibility for exploring the local area which still remains virtually untouched by tourism.
If you prefer we can organise flights and car hire from the UK on your behalf. The town of Oetz is within walking distance from the resort and we recommend visiting it to pick up some fantastic locally made souvenirs (and the bakery section of the supermarket is pretty amazing too!).
Suitable for
Families with children aged 10 years and older (this does not preclude families with children younger than 10 but they may not be able to take part in all activities).
On booking your holiday you will be provided with 24 activity points. These points are used to book activities all of which have a points value attached so you can pick and mix the activities you would like to participate in.
Because of this the itinerary can not be confirmed until your welcome meeting. Additional points can be purchased at 7 Euros each.

Environment
This resort is built in a truly beautiful part of the world. On the outskirts of a small town the resort is built and furnished with robust timber from local forests: The wood used includes larch, Swiss stone pine and spruce with nothing artificial, processed using old traditional methods. To build these houses members of the local community are employed and all building processes and materials are as environmentally friendly as possible. The resort has recently seen an expansion in the number of rooms but careful planning from our partners here in Austria has ensured that the buildings are all as environmentally friendly as possible and all built in a sympathetic style to the local buildings.
All waste from the chalet accommodation, the onsite restaurant and the bar area all sort and recycle as much waste as possible to avoid unnecessary waste pollution. For all of the activities included in the programme the guides take every measure to minimise the impact on the local environment. An example of this is during hiking trails the guide will always discuss the impact that the increased footpath traffic is having on the environment, and our guides will lead by example in collecting litter left by less well informed parties along the way, and our clients are encouraged to do the same. We also try, wherever possible, to avoid tourist bottlenecks at peak times and a trip with us gets you away from the main tourist areas.
The onsite restaurant wherever possible local produce is served which not only serves to educate the clients about the traditional local cuisine but also to support the local farmers and small independent shops in the vicinity of the nature resort. We operate a strict ‘leave no trace’ policy on all of our activities.
Community
Our local partners are heavily integrated into the local community. All our guides and employees in the hospitality side of the resort are from the area. To promote responsible tourism we try to keep to small sized groups, as we believe that the growth of adventure tourism can lead to the over commercialism and overcrowding of these sensitive areas. With small groups participating in carefully chosen locations, or walking on established marked out trails, we can introduce our clients to this spectacular area without compromising the environment and the finely balanced eco system. The small size of the nature resort guarantees that all activities are led in small groups and with only 60 beds on site this ensures that there will not be an overcrowding of visitors to this small, charming working town.
We always ensure that we work with local suppliers and accommodation wherever possible. In Oetz Valley we work with local guides whose passion for the area is infectious, in a family run resort. This means that our clients get to meet the local people and gain fantastic experiences from them. This remote resort is located approximately 40 minutes from Innsbruck and 2 hours from Salzburg. These areas have more facilities for tourism and their history and culture attracts large number of visitors each year. By selling this destination it attracts tourists away from this area and into a smaller more genuine and traditional town where the community benefits from our groups and our groups benefit from the experience.
