The French Alps are a winter paradise for skiers but in the summer months the variety of activities available is incredible. To make the most of your precious time we have basically taken a week's worth of activities and condensed them into a 3 night stay. These itineraries let you experience the best the region has to offer in terms of activities as well as some fabulous chalet accommodation.

These weekends are for over 18's only but are suitable for adults of all ages. The activities include some adrenaline but they are designed for beginners. The only proviso is that you have a positive attitude and are able to easily swim 25 metres.

The real beauty of these holidays is that they include all lunches and evening meals so there is little for you to think about once you have landed in Geneva. The catered chalet accommodation means you are hassle free and only have to think about how long you want to spend in the hot tub.

Suitable for

 Anyone aged 18 or over.

Chalet Imperial

Exterior image of the Chalet Imperial, Morzine, France, French Alps, adult activity and adventure summer holidays

The accommodation for this trip is based in Morzine, a delightful mountain town.

The Chalet itself is very luxurious and can sleep up to 8 people. It is a new wooden chalet which was only built in January 2009. It has all the home comforts to enable you to relax in the evening after a long day of activities.

The ground floor is a fantastic open plan complete with kitchen, dining table and living room.  There is a large screen satellite TV, DVD player, free WI-FI, large drying room in the basement, a large wood burning stove and under floor heating. The chalet has a small private garden and outdoor hot tub for you to enjoy! There is a double bedroom on the ground floor complete with en-suite shower room.

The first floor has a large seating area with some fantastic views. There is a larger twin bedroom and two smaller twin bedrooms with their own balconies and a large bathroom which these rooms share.

Friday am: Arrivals and Transfers

You will be greeted on arrival at Geneva Airport and transferred to your accommodation in the Alpine Town of Morzine.

Friday pm: Mountain Biking

Morzine and the Portes du Soleil are internationally renowned as one of the best MTB venues in the world - often hosting world championship events. This is an introduction to the sport and is open to all who are competent on a bike. At the bottom of the mountain we give the bikes back and head for a well earned drink and dinner.

Saturday am: rafting

For the first activity of the day we head down the road to the rafting base. We get kitted out before our full safety briefing and then it's all aboard for the descent of the River Dranse. The Dranse provides one of the bets rafting sites in Europe with varied routes to choose from and some fantastic rapids to play in. There are 7 people per raft plus a professional guide at the helm.

Saturday pm: hydrospeeding

If we were to compare the journey downstream in a raft to a ride in a Rolls Royce, then Hydrospeeding is like a race in a go-kart. We use a large foam board and flippers (fins) to swim down through the rapids. You can't get closer to the rapids than this!

Sunday am: Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata was developed as a sport after World War One using the ladders and protection placed by resistance fighters to scale the Southern Alps, taking the 'Iron Way' is now a popular pastime. Via Ferrata enables you to enter the domain of the serious climber without any previous experience. A head for heights is a must though!

Sunday pm: departure

You will be transferred back down to Geneva this afternoon for your return flights home.

Please note that the above itineraries are subject to change at the discretion of the activity providers for reasons of safety or other unforeseen circumstances.  Wherever possible any alternative arrangements will be in keeping with the spirit of the original itineraries.

Getting there

NB: These prices do not include flights. Traditionally, tour operators have received preferential rates from airlines. However, given the availability of flights on the Internet, we believe it is now cheaper to source medium and long haul flights when you book your holiday. Generally speaking, the earlier you book, the cheaper the flights. We will still book these flights on your behalf ensuring that you are fully protected financially under our ATOL (No.6865).

This family holiday is based in the town of Morzine. The town is mostly known as a winter ski resort however Morzine offers a fantastic array of activities in the summer too.

Ski resort towns are destinations where the seasonality of their product hits the economy and local area hardest. This is especially the case when, as in Morzine, the resort has grown from a pre existing Savoyarde town. Morzine still retains its Savoyarde character and we encourage all guests throughout the week to try and speak some French and experience the local culture.

Morzine tackles the seasonality of the product exceptionally well. This is one of the few resorts you can visit in summer and find a similar buzz to that which you find in winter. People live here and work here all year round so the town retains a soul throughout the year. It is something that the town has been exceptionally conscious of and something which we are happy to support it in.

Morzine utilises the lift systems year round and operates a very successful system of mountain bike trails. The trails are all very well marked and bikers are unable to travel away from the designated areas. This minimises the damage to the environment whilst providing opportunities for employment throughout the year and gaining the maximum benefit from their existing infrastructure.

We always ensure that we work with local suppliers and accommodation wherever possible. In Morzine we work with local guides whose passion for the area is infectious and a family run hotel. This means that our clients get to meet the local people and gain fantastic experiences from them. For example we visit a Savoyarde Chalet for a lunch which most people would not find independently. The remote chalet benefits from our groups and our groups benefit from the experience.

The Alps are obviously a stunning natural environment and we work closely with our local providers to ensure that the balance between the tourism and the natural environment is managed.

We operate a strict ‘leave no trace’ policy on all of our activities.
